OIT Wins 5th Straight, Defeats NU
KIRKLAND, WA - NU started out hot tonight but it was Oregon Tech getting hotter and defeating the Eagles, 3-1 (22-30, 31-29, 30-21, 30-19) tonight in Cascade Conference play in the Pavilion.
After taking the first game 30-22, the Eagles led OIT 17-12 in the close, second game only to see OIT come back time after time to deny the Eagles the win. With the game tied 29-29, The Owls won the final two points to take the game and tie the match. OIT controlled game three from start to finish, leading the entire way. Game four saw the Eagles take the early lead 11-10 but the Owls then went on a 12-2 run to pull ahead 25-13 and win the final game, 30-19.
Oregon Tech (17-8, 9-3 CCC) won its fifth straight tonight and was led by outside hitter Nicole Andrews (Chehalis, WA/Bellevue CC) with a game high 21 kills, 42 attacks and 6 defensive digs. Katie Fuller (Roseburg, OR/Roseburg HS) and outside hitter, Michelle Klaja (Klamath Falls, OR/Henley HS) both had 14 kills for the Owls and setter Lizzie Law (Kennewick, WA/Columbia Basin CC) finished with 27 assists on the night.
Outside hitter Lauren Holtz (Brier, WA/Inglemoor HS) led Northwest (4-10, 3-9 CCC) with 17 kills, 55 service attacks and 10 defensive digs while teammate and middle blocker Madeleine Krahn (Hockinson, WA/LaSalle HS) had 14 kills and 24 service attacks. Setter Tarah Petrick (Monroe, WA/Monroe HS) had a game high of 44 assists for the Eagles and Deana Thompson (Centerville, TX/Southwestern AGU) and Andrea Cotton (Kenmore, WA/Inglemoor HS) both had 13 digs for NU.
The Eagles take to the road next weekend for Salem and Portland, Oregon, to take on Corban College and Concordia University on Friday and Saturday evening. Oregon Tech entertains The College of Idaho and Eastern Oregon next weekend in Klamath Falls.
