Northwest U. Shuts Out Northwest Christian

EUGENE, OR - Two seniors took the lead and scored for the Eagles as the NU women soccer team defeated Northwest Christian College, 2-0 in 12:30 p.m. Cascade Conference game.

NU (2-10-4, 2-5-2 CCC) took the lead in the first half off a goal by senior Katie Ellis (Bothell, WA) as her corner kick bounced in and teammate, senior Amy Bostock (Shoreline, WA) sealed the deal in the second half with her goal from 10 yards out off an assist from teammate Kene Vanderpool (Stanwood, WA).

Beacon goalkeeper Bethany McAlister (Arlington, WA) had 11 saves for the game. Northwest Christian fell to 0-14-1 and 0-9 in conference play.

"It was an over all team effort," commented Head Coach Erin Redwine, "there were no individuals to single out today because the entire team gave a great effort today. We set the tone right from the start today and I felt we controlled both ends of the field," continued coach Redwine. "Our passing looked sharp today and our combination plays were working well for us," she concluded.

The Eagles will end their season on the road as they travel to Olympia to take on The Evergreen State College on October 17 at 4 p.m. Northwest Christian will host The Evrgreen State College in Eugene on October 15 at 7 p.m.
