KIRKLAND, Wash. – Conference leading Concordia University won their third straight game and blanked Northwest U. tonight, 2-0, in Cascade Conference play. The game began with wind gusts but the high winds subsided and the game was played under dry conditions. There were some power outages reported in the surrounding areas.

Sophomore Alex Ponce (Hood River, OR) scored both goals for Concordia (12-3, 10-1 CCC) on almost identical free kicks. His first goal came at 42:32 in the first half on a free kick from the right side just outside the top, right corner of the penalty box. His second goal of the night came from the right side about 15 yards out. He bent both kicks around a three man Northwest U. wall and past Eagle goalie, Kyle Wall (Federal Way, WA/Seattle Christian HS).

Concordia out shot Northwest U. (5-9, 4-7 CCC), 19-8, with their defense limiting NU to only 2 shots in the second half. Garrett Staples (Eugene, OR/ Sheldon HS) got the shut out in goal for the Cavaliers and had 4 saves on the night. Forward Kossivi Alokpovi (Glendale, AZ/Glendale HS) had 7 shots for Concordia.

Northwest U. travels to Portland on Saturday for a rematch with Warner Pacific. Concordia U. will host The Evergreen State College on Saturday afternoon.
