EOU Claims CCC Cross Country Title
EAGLE, Idaho - Paced by all five scoring runners in the Top-12, the Eastern Oregon men's cross country team claimed the 2007 Cascade Conference Championship this morning in the event, presented by Bandanna Running, at Eagle Island State Park.
The Mountaineers, who saw Zach Heath place third overall, outdistanced themselves from second-place Southern Oregon by 13 points. Oregon Tech's Korey Humberston withstood a late kick from The College of Idaho's Tyler Hopper to claim the individual title, winning in 26:06 on the muddy course - defeating Hopper by a mere eight-tenths of a second. Kevin Jeffers and Cameron Kruez of Southern Oregon rounded out the Top-5.
Humberston was named CCC Men's Runner of the Year, while Eastern Oregon's Ben Welch claimed Coach of the Year honors.
