Warner Pacific Posts Comeback Win over Northwest
PORTLAND, OR - After breaking out to a 3-1 lead, the Northwest U. men lost a player to his second yellow card, played short handed for 9 minutes and 49 seconds and Warner Pacific came from behind to defeat the Eagles, 4-3 this afternoon in Cascade Conference play. Warner Pacific’s Chris Price scored a hat trick and the final three goals for the Knights to claim the victory.
Trevor Uhler (Bothell, WA) put the Eagles (5-10, 4-8 CCC) ahead with his goal at the 26:26 mark in the first half. Warner Pac tied the game 14 minutes later on J.B. Cunha's (Brasilia, Brazil) goal, but NU regained the lead at 69:29 in the second half on Brandon Screen's (Bremerton, WA) goal from an assist by Amos Freiheit (Tacoma, WA). Freiheit then booted his goal less than two minutes later off an assist from teammate Zack Weismann (Carson City, NV).
Warner Pacific (9-6, 9-3 CCC) forward Chris Price (Portland, OR) got his first goal on the way to his hat trick at 77:23 to make the score 3-2. Assist went to Davor Lukic (Portland, OR). Then the momentum shifted in Warner Pacific's favor when NU midfielder Kyle Veach (Oak Harbor, WA) received a red card for his second yellow and the Eagles played one man short for the remainder of the game.
Price tied the game 16 minutes and 16 seconds to go in the contest off a pass from teammate Zack Barron (Boring, OR). His third goal of the game and the winning score came with one minute and 45 seconds remaining as he knocked the ball into the net from a pass and assist by Luis Galvan (Sunnyside, WA).
Today's victory was Warner Pacific's sixth in a row giving them the longest winning streak in the Cascade Conference.
Warner Pacific plays at Cascade College on Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. and then travels to Caldwell, Idaho to take on The College of Idaho on October 26 in their season finale. The Eagles will take a short break from conference play and will take on NCAA D-II St. Martin's University in Lacey on Tuesday, October 23 at 3 p.m. The on October 26, they will return home to host Corban College at Lake Washington at 7:00 p.m.
