Second-Half Rally Lifts Corban over Northwest

KIRKLAND, WA – Corban College came back from a 1-0 halftime deficit to score two second half goals and defeat Northwest University, 2-1, in Cascade Conference play tonight at Lake Washington HS Stadium.

Northwest U. (5-12, 4-9 CCC) scored just 2:56 into the game with Brandon Screen’s (So., Bremerton, WA/Bellevue CC) unassisted goal from the right side on a through ball. The score held up the remainder the of the first half as each team finished the half with 6 shots a piece.
Corban (6-9-2, 4-7-2 CCC) went on the attack in the second half and sophomore defender Mark Mendenhall (Windsor, CA) tied the game with his goal at the 53:27 mark. Eight minutes later, midfielder Caleb Louvier (Sr., SeaTac, WA/Seattle Christian HS) scored the game winner for the Warriors.

Corban goalkeeper, Aaron Franklin (So., Red bluff, CA) saved the game and prevented a tie for the Warriors with his outstanding save off NU’s Brandon Screen’s penalty kick at 76:36. Corban outshot NU 10 to 7 in the second half and 16-13 for the game. Franklin had 7 saves on the night.

Northwest U. will close out its season tomorrow night as they host Northwest Christian College at Lake Washington Stadium at 7:00 p.m. Corban will travel to Olympia to take on The Evergreen State College at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
