NAIA Region I Championships to Include CU, OIT

PORTLAND, Ore. – Cascade Conference women’s soccer teams from Concordia University and Oregon Tech join Carroll College and Simon Fraser in the NAIA Region I Championships in Helena, Mont., this weekend, with the tournament winner securing an automatic berth in the NAIA national championships.

Top-seeded Carroll College hosts fourth-seeded Oregon Tech, the CCC tournament runner-up, Friday at noon MT. At 2:30 p.m., second-seeded Concordia takes on third-seeded Simon Fraser. The two winners will meet Saturday at 1 p.m. for the Region I title.

The 20-team NAIA national championships, featuring 14 regional champions and five to six at-large selections, are slated for Nov. 14-20 at Embry-Riddle University in Daytona Beach, Fla.
Concordia, 17-2 overall, captured the CCC regular season and tournament titles, going 12-0 against conference foes. This past Saturday, CU defeated Oregon Tech 4-0 in the CCC tournament championship game. OIT is 12-8-1.

In last week’s NAIA Top 25, Concordia was ranked fourth, Carroll seventh and Simon Fraser 16th.
