SALEM, Ore. - Sophomore midfielder Hillary Abraham (Canby, Ore.) scored a pair of goals in the first nine minutes of today's game, as Corban's women's soccer team defeated The Evergreen State College, 2-0, on Thursday at Warrior Field to move into second place in the conference standings.

Wasting no time at all, Abraham struck the game's first tally in the sixth minute on Corban's initial shot of the contest off an assist from fellow sophomore Jessica Matthews (Yelm, Wash.). Matthews began the play by flicking the ball up over her head and her defenders' head before sliding a pass off to a wide-open Abraham. After taking one dribble, Abraham sent a shot towards Evergreen's goal that ended up ricocheting off the hands of the Geoducks' keeper and into the back of the net for her first goal of the season.

Just under three minutes later, Abraham tallied her second goal of the game when she rocketed a bouncing ball past everyone that found the back of the net. The play began with freshman Katie Hanson's (Salem, Ore.) corner kick that ended up bouncing around the 18-yard box and touch at least one player from each team before finding the foot of Abraham, who calmly launched her second shot of the game past Evergreen's net-minder.

Despite holding a two-goal advantage for the remainder of the game, Corban seemed to allow Evergreen numerous attacking opportunities. Having held an 8-5 advantage in total shots at halftime, the Warriors watched as Evergreen got off two more shots (6-4) in the final 45 minutes therefore allowing the visiting Geoducks a glimmer of hope in getting on the board and breaking Corban's shutout streak.

Reigning CCC Defensive Player of the Week and junior goalkeeper Karyn Allen (Merlin, Ore.) extended her scoreless streak to 201 minutes, as the 5-foot-8 net-minder recorded a game-high six saves en route to securing her second straight shutout and third of the season. Meanwhile, Evergreen's Katie Cagle registered four saves in 90 minutes between the pipes for the Geoducks.

With the win, Corban evens its overall record at 7-7-0 and moves to 4-2-0 in Cascade Collegiate Conference play. On the other hand, Evergreen falls to 4-6-1 overall, 3-3-1 in CCC action. The Warriors are next in action on Saturday, October 6th, when they host Northwest University in Cascade Collegiate Conference play beginning at 2:00 p.m. on Warrior Field.
