Northwest U. Falls to South Dakota Tech

RAPID CITY, SD - The NU Eagles were defeated by a tough South Dakota Tech team early this evening, 93-66, in their final game in the First Western Bank Classic.

NU Junior Brittany Bowsher (Issaquah, WA/Issaquah HS) was NU's (0-2) leading scorer for the second consecutive night finishing with 20 points and 9 rebounds shooting 43.7% for the game. Erika Hornyak (Fr., Everett, WA/Everett HS) added 17 points and Chelsea Drivstuen (Fr., Monroe, WA/Monroe HS) had 15 points for the Eagles. NU managed to shoot 34.9% on the evening from 2-point range and only 29.6% from 3-point range. They did, however, shoot 93.3% (14-15) from the freethrow line.

The Miners (4-1) were led by Melanie Vedvei's 18 points and 7 rebounds and was one of five Techsters in double figures. Stephanie Bjustrom had 17 points, Jerika Ihnen added 15, Amber Deweerd scored 14 and Bethany Holyoak chipped in 11. Dakota Tech has made nine appearances in the NAIA national tournament and won 13 Dakota Athletic Conference championships.
