PORTLAND, Ore. – The College of Idaho and Southern Oregon University, which shared the 2007 Cascade Conference volleyball title with 19-1 league records, led the way with three selections each on the CCC’s all-conference first team, the league office announced today.

Southern Oregon sophomore setter Lindsey Stone, who led the league with an average of 12.5 assists per game, was named the Cascade Conference Player of the Year. It marked the second straight year that a setter has been tabbed the conference’s best player.

Two players who were first team all-conference in 2006 repeated the honor in 2007: Southern Oregon’s middle hitter Mia Wortel and senior middle hitter Katie Hogue from College of Idaho.
Southern Oregon’s Josh Rohlfing and College of Idaho’s Liz Mendiola were selected as Co-Coaches of the Year by their peers. Rohlfing earns the honor in his first season as SOU’s head coach, while Mendiola repeats the honor from 2006.

Other year-end award winners were seniors Rachel Cotter (Corban College) and Catherine Everist (College of Idaho), who shared the honor as Co-Defensive Specialist/Libero of the Year, and Northwest University’s Lauren Holtz, who was tabbed the CCC’s Freshman of the Year.
