Fresno Pacific Defeats No. 11 OIT
(Roseville, California) Playing in the second game of the William Jessup Tournament the Oregon Tech Hustlin’ Owls were beaten for the first time this season by Fresno Pacific University 84-76. The win for Fresno was its first ever against OIT in 7 games. With the loss OIT falls to 4-1 on the season. Fresno Pacific improves to 5-0.
Both teams took turns with the lead in the first half with OIT taking a slim 38-37 lead into the locker room. In the first half Joshua Wetzler (Perth, AUS) had 14 points to lead the Owls, however a leg injury kept him on the bench for the entire second half. Andre Davis (Stockton, CA) led the Sunbirds with 15 first half points that included two massive dunks.
With Wetzler on the bench Fresno Pacific had its way on the boards and scoreboard winning going away 84-76. Davis ended with 21 points to lead FPU with four other players scoring in double figures. Ryan Fiegi (Medford, OR) led Tech with 20 points. OIT was out rebounded 38-20, that combined with shooting just 3-18 from 3 point range led to the loss.
Oregon Tech will now play the loser of Northwest Christian vs William Jessup game Saturday afternoon November 17, 2007 at 3:30pm. The game will be broadcast locally on 92.5 KLAD-FM and will also be available at www.oitsports.com.
