KENOSHA, Wis. - The Mountaineer women's cross country team placed 22nd behind the running of Marcella Bosch and Stephanie Windle's 42nd and 44th place finishes at this year NAIA Women's National Cross Country Championships. Northwest's Beth Knudtsen, running as an individual qualifier, was honored as an NAIA All-American by finishing 18th with a time of 18 minutes, 15.6 seconds.

Other Mountaineer scorers were Sara Bates in 165th with a time of 19 minutes, 45.0, Chelsee Harmon in 203rd (20.08.4) and Christy Pleton in 210th (20:14.4).

Individual qualifiers were led by the All-American performance of Knudtsen. The College of Idaho's Stephanie Helm just missed an All-American award by three-tenths of a second with a time of 18 minutes, 26.2 seconds, finishing in 31st position. Corban's Danielle Jordan and Carli Moller wrapped up 59th (18:49.3) and 200th (20:07.1) spots, respectively.

This year's field included a 29 teams, which was one more that the standard 28-team field as their was a tie in Region VII, giving both teams an automatic berth. The number of runners also raised to 268.
