Lady Yotes Stop Westminster
SALT LAKE CITY, Utah - A 31-5 run midway through the first half erased an early Westminster College lead, as The College of Idaho women's basketball completed a perfect three-game road trip through the Frontier Conference with a 93-82 victory over the No. 24 ranked Griffins in Benhnke Field House.
The Lady Yotes (3-1) trailed early 13-4 and were behind 20-11 with 13:52 remaining in the half, but dominated the NAIA Division I club over the next eight minutes, taking a 42-25 lead with 5:42 left in the period.
Westminster (5-1) would cut the margin to 74-71 with four minutes left, but ShaNae Horner canned a three and the Yotes hit their free throws down the stretch - improving to 21-0 all-time when scoring 90-or-more points in a game.
Denise Hill had career highs in both scoring and rebounding - scoring 24 points and grabbing 16 rebounds. Whitney Clark added 24 points and Christon Vander Esch had 14 points and eight rebounds, as the Yotes ended a three-game losing streak to the Griffins.
Alexis Tucker led the hosts with 20 points and eight rebounds, with Kelsi Olsen adding 18 points, five rebounds, and seven steals.
The Lady Yotes have the weekend off, preparing for their Cascade Conference opener on Nov. 30 against Oregon Tech.
