Oregon Tech Pounds Pacific Union
KLAMATH FALLS, Oregon (November 19, 2007)---The Oregon Tech men’s basketball team improved to 6-1 on the season after defeating Pacific Union College 107-60 here at Danny Miles Court tonight. The loss drops PUC to 0-4 on the year.
It did not take long to see how this game was going to go, as Tech jumped out to a 20-3 early lead and saw that extend to 63-22 by the half. In the second half Tech would double the score at 90-45 and go on to cruise to the 47 point win, 107-60.
Tech would have 10 players put numbers in the points column, led by a double-double for Christian Cavanaugh (JR. Mill Valley, CA) with 20 points and 11 rebounds. Josh Wetzler (JR. Perth, AUS) was a perfect 7-7 from the floor, good for 16 points and nine rebounds while Myles Daley (SO. Medford, OR) added 16 points as well. Ryan Fiegi (SR. Medford, OR) finished with his own double-double adding 14 points and 12 assists while Trenton Newton-Jones (FR. Eugene, OR) finished the night in double digit points with 10.
The Pioneers were led by Kameron Barnes with 12 points and a team high six rebounds followed by Brandon Monty with 11 points and Dustin Miracle who put in 10 points of his own.
Tech will be tested later this week, as the Hustlin’ Owls will travel to Ashland to play in the Stratford Inn Classic hosted by Southern Oregon University. In day one of the tournament, Oregon Tech will meet up with NAIA I #13 Lewis-Clark State (ID) on Friday 11/23, as day two will see the Hustlin’ Owls meet up with NCAA Division III Willamette University on Saturday 11/24. Both games begin at 5:30 p.m. with the Danny Miles Coaches Show to air at 5:00 p.m. both nights as well. Both games will also be broadcast live via the web at oitsports.com
