NCC Comeback Falls Short vs. William Jessup

EUGENE, Ore. -- The Northwest Christian College men’s basketball team fell victim to a hot shooting William Jessup squad on Saturday night, seeing the Warriors hit 54% from three-point range en route to an 89-82 victory. After trailing by as many as 17 points with just over eight minutes to play, the Beacons fought to within five, but Shaughn Hull scored six points in the final minute to seal the victory.

Just eight days prior, NCC had defeated Jessup by 19 points but on this night the Warriors would hit 15 three-pointers, getting treys from eight different players to shoot 51% overall. The Beacons managed just a 37% shooting clip and were 8-for-24 from beyond the arc.

The Beacons (3-3) were led by Peter Nelson, who fueled the late comeback attempt by hitting five three-pointers over the final five minutes. He finished with 22 points along with a game-high five steals. Josh Jarrett added 20 points for NCC along with nine rebounds. Jordan Whittenburg added a trio of three pointers and finished with 17 points of his own.

Hull led all scorers with 23 points in the game, shooting 7-for-8 from the field, adding team-highs with seven rebounds and five assists. Lucas Birchard scored 15 points while Torben Seikowsky and Adam Budiselich chipped in eleven points apiece.

Northwest Christian will be back in action on Tuesday when they travel to face the Pacific University Boxers (0-3) in Forest Grove, OR. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 pm.
