EOU Mounts Late Rally to Post Win over Whitman
WALLA WALLA, Wash. - The Eastern Oregon Women's Basketball team knocked off Whitman College in a rare Monday night match up. Eastern (3-0) led 31-26 at the break then went on to win 65-56 in thier non conference contest with Whitman (3-1).
The win was the third consecutive to start the season for EOU. It was the first loss handed to Whitman in four tries.
The Mounties were paced by Senior Forward Tiffanie Ulmer's 18 points and 9 rebounds. Ulmer went 6-6 from the field and made 6 of her 8 free throw attempts. Fellow senior Laura Olson played all 40 minutes, scoring 16 points and pulling down 4 rebounds.
Breana Olsen and Sheena Henderson also had double figure points for Eastern. Olsen finished up with 12 points on 4-5 shooting while Henderson had 10 points and 8 rebounds before fouling out after 34 minutes of action.
The win should provide the Mounties with momentum heading into a couple of big conference games this weekend. On Friday Eastern begins conference play when they host Southern Oregon (3-1). On Saturday the Mountaineers face Oregon Tech (4-0). Both games are set for 5:30 starts.
