C of I's Hill, NCC's Jarrett Honored
PORTLAND, Ore. - Denise Hill of The College of Idaho and Josh Jarrett of Northwest Christian College have been named Cascade Conference Players of the Week in the sports of men’s and women’s basketball, respectively, the league office announced Tuesday.
Hill, a 6-0 senior from Eugene, tallied in 24 points on 6 of 12 shooting from the field, including 12 of 15 from the free throw line to help the Coyotes (3-1) to a 93-82 win over 24th-ranked (NAIA Div. I) Westminster College last week. Hill also chipped in with 16 rebounds for her first double-double of the season.
Jarrett, a 6-6 senior from Richland, Wash., averaged 23.5 points and 13.5 rebounds in a 1-1 week for the Beacons. Jarrett scored 27 points on 11 of 17 field goals and ripped down 18 rebounds in a 92-85 win over Simpson College (Calif.). He then tallied 20 points with nine rebounds in a 89-82 loss to William Jessup University (Calif.).
The Cascade Collegiate Conference opens up the 2007-08 league season this Friday and Saturday with games across the Pacific Northwest.
