Northwest U. Posts Victory over CSU Maritime

VALLEJO, CA - The Eagle men came back from yesterday's close defeat to William Jessup for a resounding 79-61 win over Cal State Maritime in their second game of the season.

Eddie Coulson (Jr., N. Las Vegas, NV/WWU) led NU (1-1, 0-0) with 18 points, point guard Luke Hammond (Jr., Brier, WA/Bellevue CC) had 16 points and Chase Van Cleave (Jr., Puyallup, WA/Rogers HS) contributed 14 points in the Eagle victory. 6’9 freshman Greg George scored 8 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for NU and Greg Peters (Fr., Belmont, St. Vincent/Miles CC) added another 9 rebounds for the Eagles. The NU defense held Cal State Maritime to 35.6% shooting from 2-point range and 30% from the 3-point stripe. NU benefited from a 38-26 rebounding margin on the night.

The Eagles opened up a close 29-25 halftime lead over the Keelhaulers to outscore CSU Maritime 50-36 in the second half.

Cesar Gerardo led CSUM (0-2, 0-0) with 13 points and teammates Will Williams and Cody Gatton added 12 points each.

Northwest U. continues their road trip with their final game on Monday as they travel to the Napa Valley to take on their third Cal Pac Conference member Pacific Union College in Angwin.
