LA GRANDE, Ore - The Eastern Oregon Men's Basketball team used a team effort to knock off the Raiders of Southern Oregon 84-64 on opening night of Cascade Conference play.

The Mountaineers (7-1, 1-0 CCC) got a huge lift off the bench from 6'8 sophomore Josh Landsverk. The big man from Shadle Park High School in Spokane led all scorers with 19 points on 5-9 shooting and a perfect 9-9 from the free throw line.

Landsverk didn't do it alone. In all, six Mounties scored in double figures. Jeremy Templeton and Kyle Janke had 13 and 12 points respectively while Mark and Paul Carollo each chipped in 11. Senior swing man Dan Blanchard joined Landsverk off the bench to contribute 10 points.

While the Raiders mounted a couple of runs in each half Eastern was in control of the game from start to finish. EOU out shot Southern 51% to 41% and crushed SOU on the boards 45-27. Landsverk and Paul Carollo led the way in that category with 7 boards a piece.

The 18th ranked Mountaineers now turn their attention to #11 Oregon Tech (9-1, 1-0CCC) who comes to La Grande tomorrow night fresh off of a 73-68 win over The College of Idaho tonight. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m.
