OIT Survives Upset Bid by College of Idaho
CALDWELL, Idaho - Miles Daley hit a three-pointer with just over two minutes remaining, giving Oregon Tech the lead for good, as the No. 11 ranked Owls survived a College of Idaho upset bid, topping the Coyotes 73-68 tonight in the J.A. Albertson Activities Center. After Josh Owen canned a trey with 2:54 left to give The C of I (2-7, 0-1 CCC) a 64-63 lead, Daley was spotted open in the left corner and drained the triple. He would then knock home another trey with just under a minute left to provided the dagger.
The Yotes jumped out to a 11-2 lead and led the entire first half, thanks to 53-percent shooting. However, OIT (9-1, 1-0) forced the hosts to miss 12 of their first 13 three point attempts in the second half, hitting three straight treys midway through the second half to build a 53-44 edge.
Ryan Fiegi led all scorers with 28 points and 12 rebounds, with Jguwon Hogges adding 12, Daley 11 points and nine rebounds, and Josh Wetzler ten points and ten boards.
The Yotes got 18 points and seven rebounds from Bryan Champ and 12 points and six assists from Owen.
The C of I returns to action tomorrow night, hosting Southern Oregon at 7:30 p.m.
