Black Hills State Defeats Northwest U.
RAPID CITY, SD - The Northwest University Eagle women opened their season tonight and fell to Black Hills State University, 85-61, in the First Western Bank Classic.
NU's (0-1) Brittany Bowsher (Jr., Issaquah, WA/Issaquah HS) led the Eagles tonight with 18 points. Teammate Dani Drivstuen (Jr., Monroe, WA/Monroe HS) added 17 points, hitting 10 of 12 freethrow attempts and freshman Erika Hornyak (Everett, WA/Everett HS) dropped in 11 for Northwest. 20 turnovers hurt the Eagles and they were outrebounded by Black Hills, 43-24. NU shot 37.5% from 2-point range and 16.7% from the 3-point arc.
Black Hills State (3-1) was led by Brittany Furhman's 18 points and 7 rebounds. Lacey Haughian scored 15 and Bailey Chevron ended up with 12 for BHSU. The Yellow Jackets shot 47.6% from the 3-point line on 10-21 shooting.
The Eagles will play tournament host, South Dakota Tech tomorrow evening at 5 p.m. before returning to Kirkland on Sunday morning.
