Eastern Oregon Hustles Past OIT Owls
LA GRANDE, Ore. - There is now only one team in the Cascade Conference on the women's side undefeated, Eastern Oregon University. The Mountaineers (5-0) (2-0) defeated Oregon Tech, 73-66, Saturday night in La Grande.
It was the second down to the wire game for Eastern in two nights after edging out Southern Oregon in overtime by three on Friday night. Eastern and Tech changed leads five times in the game and were tied nine times during the game.
Eastern was led by Sheena Henderson's 23 points and eight rebounds. Laura Olsen and Tiffanie Ulmer added 22 and 12 points respectively for the Mounties.
The Hustlin' Owls had three players in double-digits in scoring, led by Crystal Idrogo's 23 points. Jenna Ball added 14 points, while grabbing eight rebounds and Cora McVey also had 13 points.
EOU women controlled the ball very well Saturday night only giving up ten turnovers, compared to Friday night's 25 turnovers. The Mounties also shot 52 percent from the field in the victory.
The Mountaineers will travel to NCAA division three, Linfield College (4-0), December 8 for their next game.
