EOU Gets School-Record 7th Straight Win to Open Season
SPOKANE, Wash. - The dynamic duo of Sheena Henderson and Tiffanie Ulmer led The Eastern Oregon University Mountaineers to a 69-64 win over NCAA D-III Whitworth College to remain perfect at 7-0.
Henderson notched a double double with 18 points and 12 rebounds while Ulmer also added 18 and 5 boards. The inside tandem combined to shoot 60% from the floor (14-23).
The Mounties also got strong performances from Jenny Fiso and Elise Hawes. Fiso wound up with 14 points on 5-7 shooting while Hawes tossed in 9 points going 4-5 from the floor, she also added 7 rebounds.
As a team Eastern shot a red hot 56% (26-46) from the floor, including 42% (3-7) from distance.
The win, Eastern's seventh consecutive, is a school record to start a season.
The Mountaineers will travel to Portland and return to Cascade Conference action Tuesday and Wednesday night against Cascade College and Warner Pacific. Both games are scheduled to start at 5:30 pm.
