Corban Pair Sweeps Player of Week Honors
PORTLAND, Ore. – Corban College’s Jessica Steigleman and Kyle Masten have been named Cascade Conference Players of the Week in women’s and men’s basketball, respectively, the league office announced Monday.
Steigleman registered her fifth consecutive 20-plus point game Saturday as the Warriors defeated NCAA Division III member Pacific. In addition to her game-high 22 points, the 5-10 senior forward from Eugene also had 10 rebounds as she posted her third straight double-double.
Masten, a 6-0 junior guard from Salem, scored a combined 36 points in helping Corban to an unbeaten (2-0) week and the Wildhorse Resort Classic championship trophy. Masten hit 11 of 12 field goal attempts, including all eight tries from beyond the arc, and finished with 31 points in an 83-68 win over Montana Tech. Masten earned tournament MVP honors after tying Corban’s school record for 3-point percentage and setting a tournament record for 3-pointers made in a game.
