Cascade Loses Close Encounter to EOU
PORTLAND, Ore. - An upset bid from the T-Birds was turned away by NAIA #6 ranked Eastern Oregon tonight at the Thunderdome. With the score tied at 64, EOU scored the final six points to escape with the win.
The night looked to be a long one for Cascade as Eastern sprinted out to a 25-4 lead with just over 8 minutes remaining in the first half. That lead turned out to be the largest of the game, as the T-Birds slowly chipped away at the deficit.
The trend continued into the second half as Cascadetook the lead for the first time at 58-56 with 7minutes to play. Ben Pawlak drilled a three pointer forthe T-Birds moments later to push the lead out to five, buta Steve Sawyers layup and foul turned the momentum back to the visitors.
Kao Saelee led the hosts with 14 points and 4 assists. Pawlak saw his first action of the season and joined Erving Adamswith 12 points each. Tayo Cotton grabbed 8 rebounds.
Veteran guard Mark Carollo paced the Mounties with 14 points.
Cascade hosts The College of Idaho tomorrow night in another CCC clash.
