Hustlin' Owls Fly Past Eagles
KLAMATH FALLS, Oregon (December 18, 2007)---Oregon Tech continues their perfection at home, as they down Northwest University here at Danny Miles Court 89-69. The win moves Tech to 11-2 on the season while improving to 2-1 in Cascade Conference play. NU drops even at 6-6 overall and 2-1 in the CCC.
Oregon Tech jumped out to an early 20-7 lead on a Ryan Fiegi (SR. Medford, OR) 3-pointer, but a long 3-point shot by Luke Hammond would put NU back in the game, only down six at 25-19. Both teams would trade baskets before Tech would go on a seven point run to finish the half, going into the locker room up 47-34.
Tech would push the lead to 20 points on a Brent Johnson (SO. Medford, OR) 3-point field goal and with a NU foul on the play, along with a Technical on the NU bench, the Owls would push the lead to 22. Christian Cavanaugh (JR. Mill Valley, CA) would connect on a three-point play with under 6 minutes remaining to give the Owls their biggest lead of the night at 82-57 and cruise to a final score 89-69.
Christian Cavanaugh came away with another double-double performance knocking down 22 points and gathering 10 rebounds while Ryan Fiegi would finish with 22 points and seven assists. Josh Wetzler (JR. Perth, AUS) would drop in 14 points while Jguwon Hogges (JR. Atwater, CA) added 13 of his own.
Tech was 34-64 from the field (53.1%) while holding NU to only 36.5% shooting tonight. Oregon Tech also out rebounded their opponents 41 to 35 on the evening.
Next up for Oregon Tech is Evergreen State College, with the tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. at Danny Miles Court. Evergreen State was a winner tonight at SOU 91-68.
