CCC Players of the Week: Fiegi and Solberg
PORTLAND, Ore. - Jennifer Solberg of The Evergreen State College and Ryan Fiegi of Oregon Tech have been named Cascade Conference Players of the Week in the sports of women's and men's basketball, respectively, the league office announced Tuesday.
Solberg, a 5-foot-10 senior from Tacoma, averaged a double-double with 18.5 and 15.5 points as the Lady Geoducks (2-5, 1-1 CCC) gained a 1-1 split on the week, including a conference-opening 70-65 victory over Corban College. In that game, Solberg scored 22 points and grabbed a game-high 17 rebounds. Her rebounding total for the game was 5th-highest in Evergreen history.
Fiegi, a 6-7 senior guard/forward from Medford, Ore., averaged 27.5 points and 10.5 rebounds in a 1-1 week for the 11th-ranked Hustlin' Owls (9-2, 1-1 CCC). Fiegi scored 28 points on 11 of 19 field goals and ripped down 12 rebounds in a 73-65 win over The College of Idaho in Caldwell. The following night, Fiegi tallied 27 points with nine rebounds in an 88-73 upset loss at 18th-ranked Eastern Oregon University.
