Logan Leads Corban in Loss to George Fox

NEWBERG, Ore. - Freshman Ian Logan (Aloha, Ore.) scored a team-high tying 14 points and grabbed a team-best 8 rebounds, as Corban's men's basketball team fell to NCAA Division III member George Fox, 84-65, Tuesday night inside the Wheeler Sports Center.

Down by ten points at halftime (41-31), Corban watched as the host Bruins shot 17-for-33 (51.5%) from the field over the final twenty minutes and held the Warriors to a mere 1-for-9 (11.1%) from beyond the arc en route to securing the victory.

George Fox connected on three more 3-pointers in the final half than the Warriors, as the host Bruins increased their halftime margin from 10 to the final difference of 19 (84-65) with the extra touch from long distance in the final half.

Along with Logan, junior Wade Douglas (Ontario, Ore.) was the only other Corban player to score in double figures with an identical 14 points. Seniors Ben Sisler (Corvallis, Ore.) and Hannes Gehring (Lake Oswego, Ore.) added 8 and 7 points respectively, while freshman Clay Martin (Beaverton, Ore.) and Douglas recorded 6 and 4 rebounds respectively.

For George Fox, five players scored in double figures led by Evan Atwater's game-high 16 points. Brent Satern recorded 14 points and a game-high 11 assists, while Travis Toedtemeier, Bryan O'Connell, and Mark Metzler registered 13, 11, and 10 points respectively. Toedtemeier led the Bruins with a game-high nine rebounds, while three other GFU players pulled down six boards apiece.

As a team, Corban ended the night shooting 26-for-63 (41.3%) from the field to go along with the team's 6-for-21 (28.6%) performance from beyond the arc and the Warriors' 7-for-12 (58.3%) output from the free throw line. On the other hand, George Fox turned in a 30-for-68 (44.1%) performance from the field, 10-for-24 (41.7%) showing from behind the 3-point line, and a combined 14-for-22 (63.6%) output from the free throw line.

With the loss, Corban falls to 2-6 overall, while George Fox improves to 2-2 on the season. The Warriors will return to action on Friday, December 7th, when they play host to Montana State-Northern beginning at 7:30 p.m. inside the C.E. Jeffers Sports Center as part of the F & W Fence Basketball Classic.
