Southern Oregon Runs Past Willamette
KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. ---The Southern Oregon women’s basketball team defeated Willamette University in game one of the Oregon Tech Classic 68-59 at Danny Miles Court. The non-league win moves SOU to an overall mark of 5-2 on the season while the loss drops Willamette to 2-6 on the season.
Southern Oregon led at halftime 30-22 despite shooting only 29% making 10 of 34 shots. The second half was a different story as the Lady Raiders built a 19 point lead with 15 minutes remaining and held on to win 68-59.
SOU was led in scoring by Jacki Speer (Centralia, WA) who had a double-double with 16 points and 15 rebounds. Rhiannon Dickison (Redding, CA) added 15 points for the Raiders. Southern shot 50% from the floor in the second half on 16-32. Willamette was led by Molly Fillion (Silverton, OR) who had a double-double of her own, scoring 24 and snatching 17 boards in a losing effort.
Southern Oregon will meet Kwantlen University of Surrey BC in game one of the Oregon Tech Classic tomorrow at 3:30 p.m. while Willamette plays host Oregon Tech in game two starting at 5:30 p.m.
