Knights Post 82-57 Victory Over Walla Walla
SALEM, Ore. - In the first game of the F & W Fence Co. Basketball Classic, hosted by Corban College, the Wolves of Walla Walla University took on the Knights of Warner Pacific College at the C.E. Jeffers Sports Center.
The nationally-ranked Knights defeated NCCAA member Walla Walla, 82-57, behind a game-high 20 points by senior Josh Jackson. The 6-foot-3 guard was a perfect 4-for-4 from 3-point range for the game, to go along with his 8-for-11 showing from the field.
Fellow senior Scott O’Gallagher added 16 points and a game-high 9 assists, while senior Jalonta Martin and sophomore Eddie Gallagher grabbed a team-high 6 rebounds each.
Senior Brett Weisner led the Wolves with 16 points and was accompanied by fellow senior Ryan Wilson, who recorded the game’s only double-double with 13 points and a game-high 13 rebounds.
Coming back from a 4-2 deficit in the first minutes of the game, the Knights were 16-for-35 (45.7%) shooting in the first half, including 5-for-13 (38.5%) from 3-point range, and lead by 12 points (39-27) at intermission. Walla Walla, however, only managed 10-for-34 (29.4%) from the field and 2-for-8 (25.0%) from behind the arch.
The second half seemed a replica of the first as Warner Pacific continued to outshoot the Wolves with an identical 16-for-35 (45.7%) to Walla Walla’s 11-for-39 (28.2%) from the field. The Knights shot a solid 9-for-17 (52.7%) from 3-point range, but struggled from the line, shooting only 2-for-9 (22.2%), in comparison to Walla Walla’s 6-for-8 (75.0%).
Both teams will take the court again tomorrow when Walla Walla will play the host Corban, and Warner Pacific will square-off with the Lights of Montana State University- Northern at the C.E. Jeffers Sports Center.
