College of Idaho Blanks Biola
SALT LAKE CITY, Utah - The Albertson College of Idaho men's soccer team rebounded from a tough loss Wednesday to defeat Biola University, 4-0, in their second game at the 2007 Westminster Invitational in Salt Lake City.
The Yotes (1-1) got a pair of goals in the opening 20 minutes and added two late goals for insurance in a key non-conference victory.
Mauricio Both got ACI on the board eight minutes in, cracking a 35-yard dart into the Upper "V" to give the Yotes the lead. "That was a sweet goal," said head coach Brian Smith. Six minutes later, Kazuki Murata cracked his first goal of the season, one-touching a pass from Jesus Lopez in front of the goal.
In the second half, Alex Penrod took a Garga Caserta through-ball and found the net in the 69th minute, followed by Both's second goal of the game, a 25-yard free kick that was bent around the wall and found the twine.
Jay Gentle was up to the task in goal, turning away ten Eagle (1-1) shots on goal to record his first shutout of the season.
ACI completes tournament play tomorrow, meeting Olivet Nazarene at Noon.
