KIRKLAND, Wash. – Northwest U. defeated Warner Pacific College, 1-0, with Brandon Screen’s goal at 8:50 in the first overtime period tonight at Lake Washington Stadium.

Brandon Screen (So., Bremerton, WA/Bellevue CC) lobbed a shot over goalie Brian Kelly (Surprise, AZ/Dominican U.) and into the net off Amos Freiheit’s (Jr., Tacoma, WA/Tacoma CC) pass for the golden goal to end the game.

Northwest U. (3-1, 2-0) and Warner Pacific (0-5, 0-2) battled to a scoreless tie in regulation in a game that saw Warner Pacific out shoot Northwest, 21 to 6. Warner Pacific controlled the first half taking 15 shots to NU’s 2 and forcing Northwest U. goal keeper, Kyle Wall (So., Federal Way, WA/Seattle Christian) to make 7 of his 9 on the night in the first half. Wall seemed to be in the right place at the right time to stop the Knight’s attempts to score as some of the shots just missed getting into the net. Andrew Scott (So., Portland, OR/Milwaukie HS) led WPC with 5 shots and teammate Chris Price (Portland, OR/Cleveland HS) followed with 4 shots in the contest.
Northwest U. travels to Portland, Oregon this weekend to play Concordia University at 4 p.m. on Saturday. Warner Pacific will be on the road to Olympia, Washington as it takes on The Evergreen State College men on Saturday 4 p.m. Both are conference games.
