KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. -- Hosting its first Cascade Conference match of the season, Oregon Tech (8-7, 1-2 CCC) rolled to a decisive win sweeping Northwest University (1-4, 0-3 CCC) in three games (30-18, 30-12, 30-20). Oregon Tech ran away with games one and two as Northwest did not score consecutive points until after a timeout at the 22-7 mark of the first game. After three straight NU points made it 22-10, Tech’s Michelle Klaja had two consecutive kills to stop any Eagle attempt at a comeback and end game one 30-18.

The Lady Owls ran off five straight points to go up 5-1 in game two, only to see NU cut the lead in half at 8-4. Another Owl run of 8-0 made it 16-4 as NU got a quick timeout. Klaja again added two consecutive kills and three straight service aces by Anna Leal made it 22-7 that ended any hope at an Eagle comeback. Northwest showed some fight in game three as both teams battled to an 11-11 tie, however, Oregon Tech again went on another 8-0 run to make it 19-11 before the Eagles could answer with a point of their own. Each team traded points and on the third match point, a decisive kill by Nicole Andrews ended the game at 30-20 to seal the win for Tech.

Tech’s Michelle Klaja was outstanding offensively for Tech as she recorded a match high 18 kills while teammate Nicole Andrews finished the evening with nine. Oregon Tech received considerable help on defense as three players finished in double digits with kills. Krystie Vea finished with 14 on the night while Kelsey Russell had one of her finest defensive performance and tallied 10 digs of her own. Lizzie Law ended the night with 10 digs to go along with her match high 23 assists.

Oregon Tech will try to make it two consecutive as it plays host to The Evergreen State College on Saturday, Sept. 15 at 7 p.m. at Danny Miles Court.
