Northwest Sweeps Cascade
KIRKLAND, Wash. – Northwest University won its second match in a row by defeating Cascade College, 3-0, tonight in Cascade Conference play (30-23, 30-27, 30-22). The Eagles were trailing by 10 points in the second game and came from behind to edge Cascade 30-27.
Lauren Holtz (Brier, WA/Inglemoor HS) led Northwest U. (3-5, 2-4 CCC) with 16 kills and a .333 hitting percentage. Tarah Petrick (Monroe, WA/ Monroe HS) had 32 assists and Andrea Cotton (Kenmore, WA/Inglemoor HS) had 16 defensive digs on the night for the Eagles. Gina Lubanovici (Vancouver, WA/Mt. View HS) added 9 kills and a .467 hitting percentage for the Eagles.
Meagan Stanley (Spokane, WA) led Cascade (3-7, 1-5 CCC) with 9 kills, teammate Claire Van Meer (Abbotsford, BC) had 23 assists and 12 defensive digs and Jessica Dodge (Seattle, WA) added another 12 digs for the visiting Thunderbirds.
The Eagles travel to LaGrande, Ore., next Friday to take on Eastern Oregon University while Cascade will travel to McMinnville, Ore., to play Linfield College on September 25.
