College of Idaho Defeats Northwest
KIRKLAND, Wash. – Albertson College of Idaho defeated the Northwest U. men, 3-1, in Cascade Conference soccer tonight. The Yotes came out playing aggressive offense right from the start and their tight defense held the Eagles scoreless in the first half.
Kazuki Murata (Tokyo, Japan) put Albertson (6-2-1, 3-1-1 CCC) into the lead at 13:23 with the first goal of the night. Garga Caserta (Aracatuba, Brazil) scored two goals on the night for the Yotes to put the game away for Albertson College. The Yotes outshot Northwest U. 13-9. Big Jay Gentle (6’4”, 225 lbs., Boise, ID/Walla Walla CC) had two saves in goal for Albertson.
Brandon Schulz (Lynden, WA/Lynden HS) scored the lone goal for Northwest U. (3-4. 2-3 CCC) in the second half. Northwest goalie Kyle Wall (Federal Way, WA/Seattle Christian HS) had four saves on the night.
Northwest will travel across the border to play Simon Fraser University in Burnaby, B.C., this Tuesday while Albertson College will travel to Portland to take on Concordia University on Friday, September 28.
