Yotes' Rhoades Named National Defensive Player of Week

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Albertson College of Idaho student-athlete Amy Rhoades became the first-ever Lady Yote women's soccer player to earn NAIA National Player of the Week honors, as announced this afternoon by the NAIA National Office.

The sophomore from Eagle earned National Defensive Player of the Week honors after helping ACI to their first ever wins at Southern Oregon and Oregon Tech.
Rhoades made eight saves in a 1-0 shutout at Southern Oregon on Friday, then followed it up with six saves, including a stop of a penalty kick in a 2-0 win at Oregon Tech. For the season, she has recorded a 0.45 goals against average, and has three shutouts.

She joins ten other ACI athletes to earn National Player of the Week honors and gives the Yotes at least one athlete with the award each of the last three season. Joining Rhoades in the exclusive club are volleyball players Erin Cherrington (2006), Charity Gaston (2005), and Amanda Basanez (2003), men's soccer players Jason Southward (2002) and Jared Larsen (1999 & 2000), women's basketball player Alyson Pincock (2001), baseball players Tim Onofrei (1996) and Luke Hays (1999), and men's basketball player Mark Owen (1985).
