SALEM, Ore. - Senior midfielder Andrew Brown (Madrid, Spain) scored the Warriors' lone goal via a penalty kick in the 83rd minute, but Corban's men's soccer team fell to the Eagles of Northwest, 2-1, on Saturday at Warrior Field to conclude their first back-to-back games since the beginning of September.

In a game that seemed to be controlled by Corban, the visiting Eagles of Northwest capitalized on two scoring shots in the 30th and 59th minute.

Northwest's Trevor Uhler began the scoring when he took a rebound off the cross bar, dribbled one time to his left, and beat Corban's goalkeeper James DelCastillo (Fairbanks, Alaska) to the lower left corner of the goal 29 minutes and 50 seconds into the contest.

Clinging to its slim one-goal lead, Northwest put up a defensive wall for the remainder of the opening half and shut down the Warriors' offensive attack despite Corban holding the advantage, 10-4, in total shots.

In the second half, Northwest netted an insurance goal when Brandon Schulz took a combo pass from teammates Flavius Sterciuc and Amos Freiheit. After reaching the pass from Sterciuc, Schulz lofted a shot from just outside the 18-yard box up over DelCastillo to give the Eagles a much-needed two-goal advantage with 58:53 on the clock.

Applying intense offensive pressure in the final ten minutes, Corban was awarded a penalty kick for the second straight game following an Eagle foul inside the box. Without any hesitation, Brown stepped up for the free kick and made Northwest's net-minder Kyle Wall guess the wrong direction while slipping a shot into the lower left corner of the net for his first goal of the season.

Not wanting to fall to Northwest on this particular day, Corban doubled its offensive attack for the final seven-plus minutes but could not crack the Eagles' defensive wall. The Warriors recorded six times more shots (19-3) than its opponent from the state of Washington in the second half, but could not stop the Eagles from leaving the Beaver state with the victory.

DelCastillo played all 90 minutes in goal for Corban and recorded a pair of saves, while Wall registered a game-high 11 saves in between the pipes for the Eagles.

With the loss, Corban falls to 3-5-2 overall, 2-3-2 in Cascade Collegiate Conference action. Meanwhile, Northwest moves to 4-6-0 overall, 3-4-0 in CCC play. The Warriors are next in action on Tuesday, October 2nd, when they take a mini break from Cascade Collegiate Conference play against cross-town rival and NCAA Division III member Willamette beginning at 4:00 p.m. on Warrior Field in the 2nd annual Capitol Cup game.
