Mountaineers Shoot Down OIT
LA GRANDE, Ore. -- The Eastern Oregon University volleyball team kicked the Cascade Conference season off right with a win over the Owls of Oregon Tech (3-1) Friday night.
The Mounties knocked off OIT in four games, (30-26, 30-26, 28-30, 30-22).
After winning the first two closely contested games EOU found themselves up 25-18 and cruising towards what seemed to be a sweep of the Owls. However, Tech bounced back with a 12-3 run to finish the third game and force a fourth.
Eastern found itsr composure and fought back to win the fourth and final game of the match 30-22.
Head Coach Kaki McLean was proud of her teams' effort on the court. Said McLean: "They came out ready to play from the very beginning. They definitely deserved this win."
The Mountaineers had strong performances by Kiley Cobb and Chelsea Lally , both of whom finished with 22 digs on the night. Lally also pitched in with 13 kills.
Sophomore Grace Deboodt led the team in kills with 14 while the combo of Chelsea Herron and Alissa Clinton dished out 22 assists each.
EOU will play at home again Saturday night against Southern Oregon. The match is set to start at 7:00 p.m.
