Hustlin' Owls Defeat Cascade

KLAMATH FALLS, Oregon (January 18, 2008)---The Oregon Tech men’s basketball team took no time dismantling the Thunderbirds of Cascade College, improving to 17-2 overall and 8-1 in CCC action, with a 100-56 win tonight. Cascade drops to 5-12 and remain winless in CCC play at 0-9.

Oregon Tech would surge to a 30-10 lead to start the game and head to the locker room at the half up 48-20. In the second half, the Hustlin’ Owls would see their biggest lead of the game climb to 46 points at 86-40 with just under seven minutes remaining, on their way to a 100-56 win.

Tech shot 47.9% from the field on 35-73 shooting and hit on 22 of 29 free throw attempts. The Owls held Cascade to 30.6% shooting on the night, only allowing nine second half baskets. Oregon Tech would out rebound their opponents 51 to 34, with 23 coming on the offensive end.

Ryan Fiegi (Sr, Medford, OR) led all scorers with 18 points while also grabbing five rebounds and handing out four assists. Myles Daley (So. Medford, OR) followed with 17 points and Ryan Beesley (Jr. Rotorua, NZ) finished with 11 points. Josh Wetzler (Jr. Perth, AUS) was tough on the boards, grabbing a game high 12 rebounds and dropping in six points to his season total.

Both Eric Taylor and Ben Pawlak finished with 12 points a piece, while Ryan Barker finished with nine points and grabbed a team high seven rebounds.

Oregon Tech will host Warner Pacific in the final game of a three-game homestand tomorrow at Danny Miles Court, before visiting Evergreen State on 1/25 and Northwest on 1/26 to begin the second round of Cascade Conference action.
