Aranui Sets CCC Rebound Record but Cascade Falls, 71-56
CALDWELL, Idaho - Kayla Brewer hit four three-pointers, part of a career-high 16 point night, as The College of Idaho defeated Cascade College, 71-56, tonight in the J.A. Albertson Activities Center.
After the Thunderbirds (10-11, 3-8 CCC) cut a 15-point first half lead to 45-44, Brewer canned a trey at the 7:42 mark, keying a 9-0 run that put the game away.
The story of the game was Cascade's Te Awhina Aranui, who set a Cascade Conference record with 28 rebounds in the contest - just five boards off the NAIA record. Aranui scored 12 points, had 15 offensive rebounds, and 13 defensive rebounds in the loss.
The Lady Yotes (12-6, 9-2), who have won six of their last seven games, got 13 points, seven rebounds, and five steals from Whitney Clark, and the first career double-double from Magen Dufurrena, who had ten points and ten rebounds. The T-Birds got a game-high 14 points and nine boards from Amy Russell.
The C of I returns to action tomorrow night, hosting Warner Pacific at 5:30 p.m.
