Early Run Sparks Lady Yotes Win over WPC
CALDWELL, Idaho - Whitney Clark had ten of her game-high 23 points during an 18-0 run to open the game, as The College of Idaho completed a weekend home sweep, defeating Warner Pacific, 78-53, in the J.A. Albertson Activities Center.
The senior converted a pair of treys, a lay-up, and a jump shot in the first six minutes, as the Lady Yotes (13-6, 10-2 CCC) remain just one game back of front-running Eastern Oregon in the Cascade Conference standings.
The C of I forced 32 turnovers on the night, building a 29-point second half cushion.
Eleven of the 13 Yotes in uniform got in the scoring action, with Christon Vander Esch scoring 12, and both Whitney Owen and Kayla Brewer netting six. Katee Brewer, at five-foot three-inches, led the team with seven rebounds.
The Knights (5-16, 3-9), who were playing without top scorer Jacque Barton, who is out with a knee injury, did not have a player reach double figures. Danica Wilson led WP with nine points and seven rebounds - as the visitors lost to The C of I for the fifth-straight time.
The Lady Yotes return to action on Friday night, traveling to Southern Oregon for a second-place battle with the Raiders. The game can be heard live in the Treasure Valley on 1490 KCID-AM at 6:15 p.m. (MST)
