Eastern Rolls Past Cascade
LA GRANDE, Ore. - The No. 13 EOU men's basketball team found themselves down 4-0 to start Saturday nights game with Cascade College (4-15, 0-12 CCC) before going on a 49 to 15 run to end the half. The Mounties (17-3, 10-2 CCC) coasted home winning 88-55 in Quinn.
The Mountaineers, who are now the sole owners of first place tin the Cascade Conference standings with 8 games to play held Cascade to 27% (18-66) shooting for the game, including just 20% (7-34) in the pivotal 2nd half.
Junior wing Neil Fryer led all scorers with 21 points in just 21 minutes of action. Fryer also chipped in on the boards with 7. Dan Blanchard continued his strong play with 15 points and 9 rebounds off the bench while Jeremy Templeton tallied 12 points and 6 assists.
Back up point guard Nick Finley filled up the stat sheet with 8 points, 6 rebounds 7 assists and 3 steals in only 20 minutes off the bench. Mark and Paul Carollo combined to score 12 points while pulling down a total of 17 boards.
EOU will make the long trip to Klamath Falls and Ashland for a couple of pivotal conference match ups next weekend.
