EUGENE, Ore. -- The Northwest Christian College women’s offensive philosophy was simple on Saturday night against Concordia University; run the offense and wait for the open three-point opportunity. The Beacons were resourceful from beyond the arc connecting on 9-of-24 three point field goals, en route to a 60-50 win over the visiting Cavaliers. The win pushed the NCC winning streak to four games, matching a earlier four-game streak from mid-December.

Junior guard Jacquie Lipp coordinated the opening attack on the Cavaliers, hitting three perimeter shots in the Beacons opening seven possessions. NCC (12-10, 6-6 Cascade Collegiate Conference) raced out to a 22-7 lead to open the game, before Concordia answered with a 13-7 run of its own. The Beacons held a 31-20 advantage headed into the intermission.

The Cavaliers (11-10, 7-5 CCC) responded coming out of the break, as forward Danielle Clauson sparked an 11-2 rally scoring six points in the run to tie the game at 33-33 with 12 minutes remaining. The home team fired back with the evening’s final offensive blast, a 17-6 run that included five three point field goals. Included in the Beacon run were three consecutive three point field goals by reserve guard Jenneca Crocker, all three shots assisted by Amy Croll who finished the game with 11 assists and four points. Lipp led all scorers with her game-high 13 points, while McKenzie Gambee and Lori Renner each scored eight.

Concordia was led by Clauson’s 12 points and nine rebounds and the play of guard Denise Benedict who scored ten points with four assists and three boards.

The Beacons return to the road next weekend for a pair of conference games at Warner Pacific and Cascade College.
