Tech Baseball Gearing Up for 2008 Campaign
KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. -- The Oregon Tech baseball team opens up the 2008 season on a four-game southern California road trip. The Owls will face The Master’s College in a single 9 inning game on the 24th of January in Santa Clarita, California and then will battle nationally ranked Point Loma Nazarene in a three game series in San Diego, California on January 25th and 26th.
This year’s Hustlin’ Owls are led by returning starting pitchers Casey Burton, Josh Strom, Ryan Henry and Derek Jacobson. This year’s hurlers will also be bolstered by the addition of two junior college transfers, Carlos Ruvalcaba (Milton Freewater, Ore) and Matt Barber (Lakeview, Ore.).
Sean Teaters (Central Point, Ore.) returns this year to lead the Owl hitting brigade. Teaters led last year’s squad, hitting .341 in 29 games. (3B)Bryan Barrington (Palo Cedro, Ca.) heads the list of returning starters that includes (C) Kenny Simmons (Navato, Ca.), (LF) Quinn Hummel (Klamath Falls, Ore.), and (OF) Mike Myhre (Roseburg, Ore.)
Newcomers to this year’s team who are figured to make significant contributions include short stop Ryson Mauricio (Mililani, HI), and catcher Lee Eklund (Salem, Ore.).
