BOX SCORE

PORTLAND, Ore. – Two first half goals from visiting College of Idaho held up against a late game surge from Cascade as the South division leading Coyotes came away from Williams and Smith Field with an important victory. The win moves C of I to 7-0 in CCC play, while the Thunderbirds drop to 4-4.

C of I was bossy for most of the first period, outshooting the hosts 7-5 and earning 4 corner kicks. Antonio Bautista scored both goals for the ‘Yotes, giving him a conference best 13 on the season.

Cascade came out in the second half determined to give a better showing, and started peppering ‘Yote keeper Aaron Reynolds with shots. He managed to turn away all but one, a Craig Wilson tap with just 2 minutes remaining. C of I would hold on and keep their CCC record unblemished.

“We were a little sluggish in the first period, and they (C of I) have players that can make you pay,” said Cascade head coach Mike Alfers. “We were more spirited in the second half, and we had several good chances at goal. We hope to carry that effort over to tomorrow night.”

College of Idaho heads to Salem tomorrow for a clash with Corban College, while Cascade heads to Northwest Christian as CCC play continues.
