Klamath Falls, Ore – Janelle Stoner (Central Point, Ore.) had her second goal of the day in overtime to lift Oregon Tech past The Evergreen State 2-1 Saturday afternoon at Trevor Derrah Field. The win lifts Tech to 3-1-1 in the Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) and 4-7-2 on the season. The Geoduck drop to 1-6-0 in the CCC and 2-10-1 on the season with the loss.

With the wind blowing steady at about 20 mph and gusts reaching 35 plus Oregon Tech wasted no time in getting on the scoreboard as Janelle Stoner scored just 3 minutes into the game taking a ball just outside the 18 marker and chipping a shot over the extended hands of the Geoduck goalie to put Tech up 1-0. Oregon Tech had the wind advantage the rest of the first half but could not take advantage of the many opportunities to score again. Tech had 11 shots on goal in the first half but good goalie play by Sonya Daisley-Harrison (Maple Valley, Wash.) kept the score at 1-0 OIT at the half.

With the wind advantage in the second half Geoduck offense started making attacks and finally broke through at the 67th minute when Kate Green (Covington, Wash) took the ball just outside the Owl’s 18 and got her shot into the left corner of the goal tying the game at 1-1. The two teams battled the remaining 23 minutes with neither team able to get the go ahead goal in regulation.

Tech won the overtime coin flip and took the wind advantage. Four minutes later Janelle Stoner was able to give the Lady Owls the win scoring on a penalty kick at the 94:38 mark. The two goals by Stoner were only her second and third of the year. For the game Oregon Tech had a huge advantage in shots on goal 25-8 and corner kicks 4-2 over Evergreen. Oregon Tech goalie Megan Ross was credited with 3 saves while Geoduck goalie Sonya Daisley-Harrison having 12.

The Hustlin’ Owls will hit the road playing at Concordia and Cascade next Friday and Saturday October 17th and 18th respectively in Portland, Oregon.
