Corban Sweeps Team Titles At Warner Pacific/Cascade Open

PORTLAND, Ore. – With strong and consistent finishes, Corban College swept the team titles at the Warner Pacific/Cascade Cross Country Open today at a sunny but cool Westmoreland Park course in Southeast Portland. Kelsey Owens of Pacific University (Ore.) came away with the women’s individual title in 18:09.97 over the 5k course, and Cascade College’s Andrew Schmidt surged ahead in the final 50 meters to claim the men’s title in 25:52.30 over the 8k distance.
The Warrior women were especially tough today, with all their scoring runners finishing 11th or better in the 48 competitor field. Corban’s top runner was Carli Moller in 2nd place with a 18:46.50 time, and the Warriors as a team finished with 29 points. Pacific followed in 2nd place as a team (61 points), with Amanda Basham following up champion Owens with a top 10 finish. Rounding out the field was Cascade College (78 points) who had the third place runner in Megan Everetts, Mills College (97 Points), SW Oregon CC (101 points), and Warner Pacific (137 points).
In the 47 runner men’s field, Corban had to hold off a challenge from Warner Pacific and did so with 5 runners in the top 15 places. Caleb Goins paced the Warriors (46 points) with a 4th place finish. WPC’s Jonathan Graves finished in 3rd place to lead the Knights (56 points). Cascade College finished 3rd (71 points) behind individual champ Schmidt and an 8th place finish of Eric Lagerstrom. Cascade was followed by Mt. Hood CC (92 points), SW Oregon CC (112 points) and Pacific (112 points).
