NU's Brittney Marshall scored her fourth game winning goal today.
Eagles Shut Out Warner Pacific
REDMOND, Wash. – Brittney Marshall scored the game winner as Northwest University defeated Warner Pacific College today, 1-0, in Cascade Conference play at Marymoor Park in Redmond.
Northwest's (6-4-2, 5-3 CCC) Marshall (Jr., Monroe, Wash.) headed one into the goal off a corner kick from teammate Britannique Clayberg (Soph., Snohomish, Wash.) with 16 seconds to go in the first half. It was Marshall’s fourth game winning goal this season and Clayberg’s fifth assist. NU Freshman goalie Jordan Holmes (Mountlake Terrace, Wash.) earned the shut out for the Eagles. Northwest dominated play as they outshot WPC 20 to 4 and the Northwest U. defense held the Knights to just two shots in the second half.
Warner Pacific's (2-9-2, 1-5-1 CCC) goalkeeper, Lacey Golden had 9 saves on the day.
"Brittney's header came off a near perfect corner kick from Brittney Clayberg, and almost an identical goal to the one they scored against OIT last week," commented head coach Erin Redwine following today's game. "We came out a little flat in the first half but got into a better rhythm in the second half and picked up the pace of the game. Jordan Holmes was definitely player of the game with her two breakaway saves in goal and Brittney Marshall had another outstanding game today for us. It's a good win for us and we'll move on to play Corban tomorrow," Redwine concluded.
The Eagles take on Corban College at Lake Washington HS Stadium tomorrow evening at 7:00 p.m.
