BOX SCORE

SALEM, Ore. – The final home week of the regular season kicked off on Tuesday against the NAIA's No. 24-ranked Concordia and despite a game-high six saves by junior Aaron Franklin (Red Bluff, Calif.), Corban's men's soccer team fell to the Cavaliers, 4-0, on Warrior Field.

With a mere two home games remaining on the regular season schedule, Corban stepped back onto the lovely confines of Warrior Field for the first time in ten days looking to upset the nationally-ranked Cavaliers of Concordia.

Unfortunately, the Warriors saw the Cavaliers score a goal in the sixth minute by Facundo Dipascuale off a combo assist by Joey Graham and Tyler Camp for what-would-turn-out-to-be the game-winning tally. Graham began the play with a through ball to Camp, who one-timed a pass onto the foot of Dipascuale. Without hesitation, Dipascuale unleashed a shot past a diving Franklin and into the back of the net for the afternoon's opening score.

Just over 20 minutes later, Camp got into the scoring act when he unloaded a shot from point blank range into the upper left corner of the net. Camp's goal came off an initial Cavalier shot, as he collected the rebound right in front of Franklin and then rifled the shot past the Warrior keeper for the final score of the opening 45 minutes.

The Warriors' best scoring opportunity came in the 67th minute, as junior Mark Mendenhall (Windsor, Calif.) unloaded a shot from 18 yards out that forced Concordia's keeper to make a diving save over the end line in order to keep Corban at bay.

In a defensive-minded second half, neither team got on the scoreboard until the 84th minute when a Warrior defender attempted to clear the ball. Unfortunately, the attempted clear via a header went backwards past an on-coming Franklin and into the net for a Warrior own goal.

Just over one minute later, Concordia's Camp notched his second goal of the contest when he took a through ball from Graham and one-timed a shot into the back of the net for the final tally of the afternoon.

Franklin stood between the pipes for the full 90 minutes for Corban en route to recording his game-high in saves. Meanwhile, Concordia's Garrett Staples needed to make a mere two saves en route to picking up the shutout.

With the loss, Corban falls to 4-11-1 overall, including 2-8-0 in conference play. Meanwhile, Concordia improves to 12-4-1 overall, including a North Division leading 9-1-0 in conference action. The Warriors will return to the field again on Saturday, October 25th, when they play their final home game of the regular season against the Hustlin' Owls of Oregon Tech beginning at 2:00 p.m. on Warrior Field in Salem.

NOTE: At halftime, Corban's men's soccer team will honor five seniors that will be playing their final home game as a Warrior.
