CORVALLIS, Ore. – Southern Oregon’s men’s team and Evergreen’s women’s team captured titles at the NCAA-dominated Beaver Classic Saturday here at Avery Park.

The Raiders, who have been ranked eighth in the NAIA men's Top 25 for the past three weeks, totaled 26 points in finishing ahead of the University of Oregon (36), Seattle University (141), University of Portland (165), Willamette (176) and Oregon Tech (216). Others included Evergreen (224), Warner Pacific (229), Portland State (269), Corban (277), Cascade (307), and Northwest Christian (318).

"It wasn't Oregon's 'A' team," SOU head coach Brent Ericksen said. "But they had three high school All-Americans running and four of our runners finished ahead of them. Our guys ran a great race."

The Geoducks, who received votes in the NAIA women’s Top 25 poll released earlier this week, topped an eight-team collegiate field that included one NCAA Division I team and individual entrants from two other NCAA Division I squads. Evergreen totaled 85 points to defeat Seattle (95), Oregon Tech (142), Corban (145), Willamette (166), Northwest Christian (219), Cascade (232) and Warner Pacific (286). Portland, Oregon State and Southern Oregon did not field complete teams.

On the men’s side, SOU had a 1-3-4-7-11 finish, with Cameron Kreuz leading the way over the 8K course in a time of 24:30. He was followed by teammates David Lane (24:33), Anthony Monteleone (24:36), Joe Rath (24:47) and Ryan Gelfi (25:11).

Evergreen’s Brian Rakestraw was the other CCC runner to finish in the top 10, placing 10th in a time of 25:00. Oregon Tech was paced by Kory Humberston (17th, 25:37), while Warner Pacific was led by Jonathan Graves (20th, 25:47).

On the women’s side, Evergreen had three runners finish among the top 20 – Ana Casillas (3rd, 21:54), Emily Uhlig (16th, 22:56) and Britta Peterson (19th, 23:02). The women’s race covered 6,000 meters.

Three other CCC runners finished among the top 20 – Corban’s Carli Moller (5th, 22:06), Oregon Tech’s Rachel Novak (10th, 22:32), and Cascade’s Megan Everetts (15th, 22:51).

The meet capped the regular season for CCC teams, which will now prepare for the Cascade Collegiate Conference Championships on Nov. 8. The meet, to be held at Lincoln Park in Seattle, begins at 11 a.m.

LEWISTON, Idaho -- At the Lewis-Clark State Invitational Saturday, host LC State narrowly edged 12th-ranked College of Idaho to win the men's team title. In the women's race, 15th-ranked C of I, led by top collegiate finisher Stephanie Helm, edged the host Warriors, 52-53.

On the men's side, College of Idaho was led by the third-place finish of Paul Sartin, who covered the 8K course in a time of 26:04.01.
